Nighttime Kisses

So I have decided that the best feeling in the world is having my son snuggled up to me in bed with his arms around me on one side, and my husband snuggled up to me with his arms around me on the other. What a wonderful way to wake up- although it was 4:30am. LOL!
I do have to say that through all the well-intended advice we have been given, we do not regret have our son sleep in bed with us. We definitly do realize, and agree that he will have to move into his crib shortly, however, we have greatly enjoyed this time of nighttime cuddles and kisses and giggles, and waking up to a fist in the face or a nice morning razzberry just as we open our mouth to yawn.
He has learned as well, that once mommy and daddy are in bed, it is time for sleeping, and nods off quite quickly most nights. He naps alone during the day, either on the floor (where he falls asleep) or in his crib. He does enjoy naptime snuggles with daddy as well, and loves to fall asleep on daddy's tummy.
We decided from the start  not to impliment a schedule for naptimes and bedtimes, as our son had a hard time sleeping right from the get-go. So, I began doing some reading, and actually really enjoyed 'The No-Cry Sleep Solution'. It was full of wonderful tips and tricks, and positive suggestions. Now, most of these suggestions were not applicable to our son, as he just refused to sleep, but was never overly cranky.
He was always a very pleasant baby, and continues to be, still. So, we tried to calm the household environment around 10am and 2pm for naptimes, but he refused to sleep during these times when put in his crib. Eventually around 10am he began drifting off to sleep on his own- either in his crib (after crying himself out), on the floor, or after feeding. He ususally sleeps until around noon. His afternoon nap occurs whenever he decides to sleep. This is one naptime that never seems to be regular- however, he always seems to get in a nap in the afternoon sometime. So, this is good enough for us. He is such a content baby, and is falling asleep a lot easier now as he grows older. We were very adament about household noises during these times as well. We were not going to quiet down, turn off the phone, or put a note on the door that states 'please knock, baby sleeping'. Our goal from the start was to make him able to sleep through any type of noise. Now, it doesn't matter if I am vacumming, doing dishes, if a video game is on or the tv, or if a phone rings or a dog barks, or a doorbell rings- he is still sleeping!
We are both very content parents with a well-adjusted, content son.
So, if/ when we have more children, who knows what we will do the same, or what we will do differently- we both agree that each child is unique in their wants, and comforts and we will continue to take a relaxed look at parenting.
